Class of 2014

On Sunday, June 15, Faith Church presented Ben with a small gift as he is graduating from High School. Ben functioned as the organist for the last year and a half and will be continuing his studies at Trinity College, where he will be majoring in Music and Computer Science. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his studies.

Faith’s contributions to the annual Crop Walk

Meg Atwood recently received a report listing Faith’s contribution to the Crop Walk held yearly in October.

– In 2010 Faith raised $587.00
– In 2011 Faith raised $1619.00
– In 2012 Faith raised $290.00
– In 2013 Faith raised $885.00

What a wonderful job done by our relatively small congregation! What can we accomplish this year?

Congregational Meeting – January 2014

During a meeting held on Sunday, January 26, 2014, three items were addressed.

*1. 2014 Budget*

Tammy presented the 2014 budget to the congregation for approval. After some questions and a discussion the budget was approved with a possible deficit of $7,000. A plea was made to the members of Faith Church to each give a $120 above and beyond their pledges in order to cover the amount
Faith Church pays to the Denomination in assessments for each member. If each of our members do this over the course of the year, we will easily balance the budget in 2014.

476 Apple Pies

We just finished our apple pie fundraiser and managed to put in another phenomenal effort. We want to thank Tammy and her team for all the planning and organization. In two and a half days we managed to bake 476 pies. We could not have done it without the help of all our wonderful volunteers. So thank you to all who helped!

PastorBert2

Faith Church celebrated her 25th Anniversary during a special service on Sunday, June 9. The theme for the day was “Let it Shine.” Pastor Albert preached on Jesus’ statement, “I am the light of the world,” and shared with the congregation that Jesus wants to be the light of their world, and Jesus also wants them to be a light to the world.

Consistory Leadership Course

For the last 6 months, the Consistory of Faith Church has been busy with a leadership course offered by Pastor Albert. The curriculum included a leadership framework, the significance of feedback, the importance of vision, how to deal with change, resistance and conflict, how to develop a team etc. As part of their last meeting, they had a chance to meet with Tom de Vries in Tarrytown. Tom is the General Secretary of the Reformed Church in America Denomination. During the meeting we listened to Tom’s leadership philosophy, after which there was an opportunity for Q&A. After the meeting
the Consistory went out for dinner – a gift from the members of Faith Church.
