ROAR

When life is unfair… God is good. When life is scary… God is good. When life changes… God is good. When life is sad… God is good. When life is good… God is good. Life can be wild, but God is good.

During the week of July 15, we held our annual Vacation Bible School. This year’s effort was a “roaring” success. Children had a fun-filled time of learning about God through songs, crafts, Bible adventures, games and snack time. Each day opened with “Roar Sing and Play” and ended with a “Safari Celebration.”

We wish to thank the children for their presence, and also Melissa, our director for her leadership. We also want to thank all the volunteers who made the week possible. You all did an amazing job!

Below is a video that highlights some of what happened during ROAR…

A fun-filled week at ROAR

At Roar VBS, kids discover that even though life gets wild, God is good. We can’t wait to welcome you at Faith Church for this year’s adventure. In the meantime remember that life is wild, but God is good.

God and Family

We wish to congratulate Gabe on completing the God and Family program of the Boy Scouts. In order to do so he had to prepare and meet 8 times with Pastor Albert, who served as his counselor. Congratulations also to his dad Evan who accompanied him throughout the process. This past Sunday Gabe received his certificate of completion and pin and had the opportunity to give thanks to God and his church family. Faith Church is very proud of him and we thank him for his involvement and service. Our prayer is that he will continue to grow in his faith and relationship with our Lord Jesus.

Cross Words – 2019

The seven weeks of Lent are devoted to reflection upon the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. But Lent is also a time to hear afresh the words of the Lord Jesus, who said: “… the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” John 6:63 (NLT).

During this season of Lent we will be giving attention to the words of life Jesus spoke while in the very midst of death. These words from the cross are his “crosswords.” Over the seven weeks of Lent, we will be focusing on the seven last sayings of Christ from the cross.

Our prayer is that you will join us on this journey as we reflect on our own sinfulness and repent of our sin. A list of dates and themes are listed below.

March 6 (Ash Wednesday) – Father forgive them (service at 7:30 p.m.)
March 10 – You will be with me in paradise.
March 17 – Here is your son. Here is your mother.
March 24 – My God, why have you forsaken me?
March 31 – I’m thirsty.
April 7 – It is finished
April 12 (Good Friday) – Father, into your hands I commend my spirit (service at 12 noon with a soup luncheon).

Penta Celebration 2019

This past Sunday, during our Penta Celebration, we gave thanks to God for some special wedding anniversaries that are taking place this year in the lives of some of our couples.

Congratulations to Michael and Kelly (5 years); Ryan and Melissa (15 years); Tim and Jaime (15 years); Michael and Tammy (25 years); Albert and Annelise (30 years); Randy and Karen (40 years); and Kevin and Linda (45 years).

Our prayer is that God will continue to bless your relationships with his love.

New Consistory Members 2019

We wish to congratulate Kelly and Karen. They were ordained and installed as Deacons during worship on February 3. We thank them for being willing to serve a term on Consistory. Our prayer is that God would do great things through them for Faith Church and for the glory of his Kingdom.

30th Anniversary

Faith Church will be celebrating her 30th Anniversary on November 4. A special service is planned to coincide with Consecration Sunday.
You are warmly invited to join us for this joyous occasion. During the worship celebration we will be learning about the history of Faith Church and also look forward to the future. We will have the opportunity to give thanks to God for what Faith Church has meant to us and to the community, and for those who have served her over the years.

After the worship service we will meet at the Johnson Fire House for a delicious potluck luncheon and a time of fellowship. One thing we have learned over the years is that our meals together never disappoint, so this should be another wonderful occasion.

Please save the date and make every effort to join us in giving thanks to God for 30 blessed years. Your presence will make it even more special.

Shipwrecked VBS

We had a fantastic time at our Shipwrecked VBS!

Thank you to all who made this year’s Vacation Bible School another memorable adventure. The children had a wonderful week in which they learned that we are “rescued by Jesus!”

When you’re lonely, when you worry, when you struggle, when you do wrong, and when you are powerless, JESUS RESCUES!

For their mission project, children were encouraged to donate school supplies for Minisink Cares. The supplies collected were delivered this past week.

Thank you parents for entrusting your children to us for the week, it was great to share the Shipwrecked adventure with them. Be sure to look out for next year’s adventure!

See our video below for some memorable moments of a fun-filled week.

Please Pray for Faith Church Every Day at Noon!

On the first and third Wednesday evening of the month, a group of people have been gathering in prayer. Not only have we been learning more about prayer during these gatherings, but we have also been lifting up many people and needs before God. It has become a special time of spending time in God’s presence. And important aspect of our prayer meetings, is that we have been praying for Faith Church!

At a recent meeting we felt the Spirit of God prompting us to revive a tradition that has fallen by the wayside. In response to that prompting, we have decided to again call on all of our members and friends to pray for Faith Church each day at noon. It doesn’t have to be an hour long prayer, but you are encouraged to spend a moment, or more if the Spirit leads you, to lift up our church before God.

  • Give praise and thanks to God for our church.
  • Give praise and thanks to God for what he has done and are doing through Faith Church.
  • Pray for spiritual growth in our people.
  • Pray for God’s blessing on our ministries.
  • Pray for growth in numbers.
  • Pray for God’s provision.
  • Pray that God will make us more faithful in being present for worship, the life of our church and in our giving.
  • Pray for those among us who are struggling or suffering.
  • Pray for the Pastor and Consistory.
  • Pray for what the Spirit lays on your heart!

We love our church and her people and we encourage you to join in prayer. Set your phone to remind you or make a note and put it in a place where you can see it. There is unlimited power when God’s people come together in prayer!
